Do ESG Risk Scores Influence Financial Distress? Evidence from a Dynamic NDEA Approach

Financial distress is a research topic in finance that has attracted attention from academia following past financial crises. Although previous studies associate with several elements, the relationship between and ESG not been broadly explored. This paper investigates these issues by elaborating Dynamic Network DEA model to address underlying connections accounting indicators. Thus, includes profit loss, balance sheet, capital operating expenditures indicators demonstrated under dynamic network structure compute financial-distress efficiency scores. Then, impact of carryovers considered for accurate calculation scores three substructures. The influence contextual variables, such as socioeconomic macroeconomic whether firm owns an Risk Score or not, assessed through stochastic non-linear combines distinct regression types: Simplex, Tobit, Beta. results indicate firms hold are less prone be distress, Governance negatively associated efficiency.
